Hello! My name is Reneé Henderson. I am so excited to spend my sixth year at Spring Creek Elementary! My love of teaching began over 20 years ago when I began tutoring my stepdaughter. Figuring out ways to make learning fun, not frustrating, while helping her adopt a growth mindset was a challenging but enjoyable. Shortly after I decided to pursue a degree in teaching. I graduated from the University of Oregon’s Educational Foundation Program in 2007. Last year I graduated from the University of Oregon with a Masters of Elementary Education and with an ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) endorsement.
This is my 12th year working for the 4J School District. During the past eleven years, I have worked at River Road El Camino del Rio, Howard, Cesar Chavez and Spring Creek Elementary Schools. Prior to becoming a certified teacher, I taught in the Title I Program and Coordinated the BEST After School Program.
My husband and I have four children ages 12, 19, 21, and 25. We also have a granddaughter who is 20 months old. We are a houseful of an animal lovers. We have two dogs and 4 chickens. We all love outdoor activities, so you will often find us at the lake kayaking and playing with our dogs.
My hobbies include painting, photography, hiking, and adventuring to new places. I also love pushing myself to learn something new each year. Some of the skills I have learned over the last couple of years are watercolor painting, calligraphy, knitting, and crocheting.
I look forward to what this year will bring! I know we all will learn a lot from one another!!
